Matthew B. Hand

Attorney

Matthew Hand was born in Washington, DC, and has lived most of his life in Montgomery County. He has been practicing law for over 17 years. His practice consists of civil litigation with an emphasis on Family Law. He has successfully represented clients in a wide range of family law matters including divorce, custody, child support, alimony, property distribution, adoptions, guardianships, and protective orders (domestic violence). In addition to family law, Matthew has successfully represented clients in general civil matters including breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and real property disputes.

Dealing with the Court system and navigating the litigation process can be stressful and overwhelming for anyone. Especially when issues involving family are involved. Matthew’s goal is to provide his clients with high quality legal advice and guidance through a difficult process. He is ready to zealously advocate for his clients in the courtroom if their case goes to trial. However, he understands the high costs of litigation, both financial and emotional, and therefore encourages his clients to work towards an agreement with the opposing party.

Matthew graduated from the University of Arizona with a B.A. in political science and earned his juris doctorate from the University of Baltimore School of Law. He is a member of the Montgomery and Maryland State Bar Associations. He lives in Olney, Maryland with his wife and two children.
